| To the organizers of the Do A Good Deed Contest…”Please tell your Good Deeders the following from me…
I personally congratulate you on your good works. The reason I centered my book around a 12-year-old hero is because I want everyone to remember that young people can do a great deal toward changing the world. Sometimes they can do more than an adult, simply because they will. The world is full of cynical people who don’t think the Pay It Forward idea will work. You are proving how wrong they are. I will point the cynics to young people like you, and they will see for themselves. Thank you for caring about your world. You give us all hope. ” Best wishes, |
Book Author ‘PAY IT FORWARD’ Catherine Ryan Hyde (Pay It Forward was later made into a movie starring Academy Award Winning Actress and Actor Helen Hunt & Kevin Spacey) |
| With sincere gratitude for you, on behalf of the group home owners and children of Diakonia, Incorporated, I would like to thank you again for choosing the 24 kids at the Home of Excellence, May Wright, Aiming High, and Achieve Residential Group Homes as they received their awards for the “Do A Good Deed Contest.”Since the wonderful awards ceremonies on June 30, 2000, the kids have enjoyed learning about their new computers. As a matter of fact, it’s no longer a hassle for staff to get them to do their homework; because of you, children get to do their school assignments on the computer which makes it easier for staff. So all of us at the group homes are just as excited about receiving them as you were about giving the computers to us.
It’s no doubt, your contributions have really made a difference in the lives of the children at Diakonia, Incorporated. I am sure your gift of hope will continue to encourage and motivate them to keep on doing well for themselves and other people in their community. Sincerely, |
